To mark the twentieth anniversary of the Art-Z Gallery, we present three generations of artists from Lazarus Takawira to Evans Mbugua.
In recent years, we have been delighted to see the originality and uniqueness of these artists recognized against ethnic or cultural assignments. Formerly objects of fascination and desire for exoticism, these artists ended up imposing their individual paths, their proper names. Although very attached to their roots, contemporary African artists are no less free to express their freedom and their place in the universality of creation. This is what brings together close friends who appreciate each other: a brotherhood of destinies, not imposed, but conquered and constantly invented in contact with artists from all over the world.
Today recognized in the largest institutions and essential exhibitions (Fiac, Art Paris, Frieze, Art Basel), these artists are also present at the Venice Biennale, as well as in many Museums. In Africa, the expansion of large urban centers, as well as the emergence of a new wealthy social class, with new tastes and new aspirations, have largely contributed to this development.
These contemporary creators will exhibit original works created for the occasion in our Parisian space from November 7 to December 28.
