GALERIE ART-Z
27 rue Keller, Paris 11eme
Metro : Bastille, Ledru Rollin, Voltaire, Bréguet Sabin
As part of the Parcours Arles in Paris, initiated by the Art-Z Gallery, we present twelve photographers who, far from pretending to reveal an “authentic” Africa, offer us an inventory of their Africa, a sum of glances crossed with a instant. Here, there is no exoticism, no voyeurism, but only photographic vignettes never untouched by influences, both Western and African.
Studio photography, then “militant” photography, was gradually replaced by a photography that reveals everyday life, and reveals society as it is, as lived by Africans, and which is attached to show the lives and interiors of people from all walks of life: photos of those left behind, photos of the urban environment, photos of joy both small and large. The dialogues and reciprocal influences between artists have enriched, densified and made more complex the views on the African continent.
